Good Documentation

This is a small laser engraver for wood and porous surfaces. When fully assembled, the device measures approximately 16 x 16 x 6 inches and can engrave a 6 x 8 inch surface. In the box you will receive the parts to assemble the device. You need to assemble the frame by yourself, then add X and Y axis modules, laser module, connect wires and focus the laser. The kit includes a USB A to USB B cable, along with red glasses and an instruction manual. The software is not included and there is no information on how to use the software. However, the manual contains basic safety instructions. I believe this engraver can do a little more than my first laser engraver. My first laser engraver was the LaserPecker. Although LaserPecker included software as a phone app, its engraving scope was rather limited and the software clunky and temperamental. This Genmitsu engraver can engrave on a larger surface, and the PC-based software has many more capabilities than LaserPecker software. You have several software options, although the manual only mentions LightBurn. I use LaserGRBL, it's free. It's unintuitive and has its own quirks, but once you get used to it, there's a lot you can do with it. This laser burns wood well when the laser is properly focused. The supplied fixed focus column helps you to focus. I am very pleased with the safety instructions listed in the booklet. Lasers can be very dangerous, so it's good to be aware of the dangers before you start. Overall, this is a good choice for a small or novice laser engraver.
