Review on 🔒 ABUS Granit CityChain X-Plus Chain Lock 1060/170, Black – 67-inch by Chris Cruz

This chain lock is the best compromise when it comes to security. I have an expensive e-bike and they seem to be a prime target for bike thieves. So there are 3 problem areas. First, cost. I wanted to get insurance but it turned out to be more expensive than the most expensive lock I could find. So the high price of this lock is easily justified, because when I get back to where I locked my bike, there is still a bike there. Insurance cannot do that. Second is the weight. It's heavy but falls towards the high side of the middle of the pack. The next size up is the Abus 1010 with 9mm links and about 2 pounds less weight. Probably enough, but for the two extra pounds I have the peace of mind that no one is going to take my bike under my circumstances. At less than 9mm, you might as well get a cable and wonder if your bike will be there for you when you return. You can save weight by fitting a shorter chain, but that length will attach both bikes to the frame and big bar or easily both my bike and my wife's bike, so length is important. Until this moment. I have tried U-locks but they are awkward to carry as the chain fits almost any bike or backpack. I just fold mine up and put it on the trunk over the velcro attached rear wheel. So if the small difference in weight is worth the certainty that a thief will see this massive castle and leave, then this is the place for you. Third, what brand, Krytonite or Abus. I looked at others, but reading review after review and holding both in my hands, choosing the Abus was easy. It's personal as both companies make good products, but Abus' locking mechanism seems to have gained more traction online. It is perfect for everyone in all circumstances. NO. I wouldn't leave my bike in NYC overnight with it, but for my suburban community, in the afternoon I go to a movie, take a city, park, or hike ride and feel like my way home is still waiting for me.
