Bought because of the cheaper price. We have a friend who has it a bit bigger and made of cast iron. He uses it quite a bit for camping and some other functions. We thought it was well matched and wanted something for something like that. This will probably work better on a stove with more than 2 burners or a stove with grates rather than round burners. It does seem to warp a bit when heating up and gets very hot directly above the burners, but the area outside stays much cooler. It's convenient to cook because you can move food around to keep some things warm while you cook others. However, you must take this into account when using it. Also, make sure you do NOT use metal utensils with it (like the rest of my family) as it is a coated surface that will scratch. Once the surface is scratched, the coating will flake off and become very difficult to clean. Especially for the price. It's a good size to cook for no more than 8 people at a time and you can cook up a very respectable meal. However, if you regularly have more people around or cook often, I would recommend larger cast iron cookware.
