I received a rescued kitten in October. I also work a few days a week and feel like he's not old enough to be alone for 8-10 hours. He also sleeps in it at night for the same reason. not old enough to walk around unsupervised. One day he dealt with lightning. The solution for me was a small swivel hook, but a small carabiner might work. The carabiner I had was too big and could slip out through that small hole as well, hence the small swivel hook. Most of the time he comes right in when we get to the hole unsatisfied with it, but he does it. At first I'll admit I pushed it and dodged those swinging claws to close it a few times, but those days are long gone. I think it's a question. Look, mister, I don't think you understand, but I'm the boss and this is YOUR room. lol Of course that was before I realized HE was the BOSS of the house. The first few days after he had it he jumped on it and indeed it collapsed. You can't have a foldable device if it's not foldable. It scared him lol yeah. Did it stop him from coming back to jump on her again, and again, and again, NO. Eventually, he learned that his "bedroom" was NOT a perch to jump on. I never thought of putting a tray in it but it's only 6 months old and I shouldn't have expected it to be able to lay 9-10 hours and then turn over a few hours later and spend the night in perfection. So yeah, we had a little accident. The mat didn't absorb all the impact, so I found we had a bit of an issue. Urine oozed through the kennel floor. I have to find a way to put him away and get him a small litter box because it's not his fault he couldn't wait any longer, it's the mother who expected too much from a little 6 month old. I read that the rug is washable so I'm glad to know. I also read a comment about someone using baking soda to clean the fabric underneath. Hoping it will work. Otherwise I wouldn't mind buying a second one and starting with the tray in it, but we'll see if we can clean that one first. Sometimes I call him demon kitten because he's full of teeth and claws on my hands. rzumagu. In terms of durability it has withstood the demon kitten and the zip ties I put on the zips held it in place so I have no complaints and would probably invest in another if I needed one. I even recommended another new kitten owner. I haven't traveled that far with it, so I can't comment on its use when traveling, but I see others doing it. The only trips we made were vet visits less than 5 miles away and I have a small van for that. He travels well in a carrier and I suspect he will do well in his (kids) bedroom. It still runs and plays a bit now and then, I think it was a good investment for my purposes.
