Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Redragon K596 Vishnu Gaming Keyboard: Wireless/Wired, RGB, 87 Keys, 10 Macro Keys, Wrist Rest, Red Switches by Michael Foster

The best alternatives for the price. Not suitable for modders. Bad quality control.

TLDR: For $80 there are better wireless alternatives that come with infinitely hot-swappable switches (requires Outemu brand switch, other switches can only work with modification of real metal contacts). It's only wireless via a 2.4GHz dongle, while most keyboards in this price range support Bluetooth. While the construction is heavy and beautiful, it's mostly plastic, unlike most metal constructions at this price point. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought a Keychron keyboard instead. Long Summary: Received this keyboard without the F1 keycap right out of the box, brand new. I contacted the seller, he does not give individual keys. Contacted Revain, they solved my refund issue. After reading other reviews some people were able to get spare keys but not in my case. However, quality control issues seem to recur. That being said, I decided to play around with this keyboard to see if it was any good. Here are the results: Pros: - Wireless mechanical keyboard (uses a 2.4GHz USB-A dongle so may not suit all individuals) - LED backlight for each key - USB-C input - Comes with Pattern Switches (2 red, blue, brown and black) - Accepts standard cherry style keycaps. Cons: - Extremely poor implementation of hot-swap switches. Hot swapping is bullshit. 1) More than 70 percent of the switches are in the circuit board. If you look closely at the photos, the locks on the included red switches are not properly secured, indicating a poor fit. This resulted in over 10 switches breaking when removed, which doesn't bode well if you plan on going back to the original switches. 2) Uses Outemu switches - cheaper switch out of the box and harder to find (which often ends up costing more than Gateron and other switches which are pretty easy to find) 3) Inconsistent button presses - may be due to switches fitting correctly of the box, but I'd have a lot of accidental keystrokes if I just put my hand on the keyboard. - The media buttons on the top right (back, play/pause, forward) only have red LEDs, which is a bit annoying when the other buttons are set to different backlights. some keyboard spaces. Scratches on caps
