I had my doubts but my dog's breath became too strong. It really doesn't work on soft surfaces like gums, your finger, a dog's droopy lips, or a licked tongue. If your dogs are my age and have really bad builds this will take a lot of time but a little bit every day will help. It also absorbs all dirt that accumulates, except for plaque and tartar. So far I have no regrets and I will be using it from the start with any new puppies we may bring home. No more rough teeth!
