I installed these fans on a Z24i engine that originally had belt driven cooling. I'm in an area that gets hotter every year and needed heavy duty air conditioning cooling, especially idling in direct sunlight at over 100 degrees (in 2020 there were only 28 consecutive days with temperatures over 100, one day of 117 and one of 114 ) and to "Parking lot", the second highest highway for congestion in the USA. I tripled the size of the radiator, put in a larger compressor, condenser and evaporator, upgraded the alternator from 50A to 120A, replaced the water pump with an electric one (the original had to be removed to make room for fans and a larger radiator and condenser ). and finally an electronic engine coolant thermostat with external temperature control (pot on dash). The only thing I didn't upgrade was the stock crank pulley (3 pulleys) as without such a modification there was simply no way to make room for the ribbed belt system that I would still be working on 8 years later. I had to install V-belt pulleys on the new alternator and compressor as they came with the coil. The fans were a big issue to install, but I managed to fit everything in there. Unfortunately, I encountered belt slippage due to the massive amount of extra torque required for the upgrade. I tried machining the pulleys to hold them better, but ended up having to weld the teeth into the V-pulleys to fit the internally toothed timing belts to keep them from slipping. When both fans turn on, they draw 60 amps, and that puts a huge strain on the alternator, which has to provide more current just for the fans, which the entire car was using before the upgrade. For off-road use I also installed a set of high beam headlights throughout the car which add even more light. The only thing that's a bit confusing about the fans is the sheer amount of noise even a single fan makes. It sounds like a jet engine and when I pull into my driveway late at night the neighbors aren't happy and every dog within a 1/4 mile starts barking. Also, when I pull up in the parking lot and these kids kick me, everyone looks at me in surprise. Regardless, they move a massive amount of air and I never came close to overheating in any situation. Even idling at 100+ in direct sunlight when the AC is running at maximum cooling, only 1 fan is running 95% of the time. SO. I can't think of a situation where running these two engines full bore wouldn't provide enough cooling for just about any application, including a modified ultra high performance engine. One caveat is that you will notice some resistance when they work. Even a single fan running on my small 2.4 liter engine is definitely noticeable. The good thing is that once you get up to speed they aren't needed at all, so you're getting something on the highway compared to the stock setting. I've had them running for over 8 years now and the only issue is some relay wiring issues which I was able to fix although it required soldering on the PCB.
