Suitable when you want to replace the silicone straw. My son only drinks from this mug so I have a lot of them. Since my son chews on a silicone straw, I noticed after buying it that he sometimes can't suck the drink out. and it drove us crazy trying to figure out why. After some detective work I decided to compare the new hard plastic inner straws to the old ones that came with the thermos. INTERNAL STRAWS ARE A FEW MILLIMETERS longer than the original! This will make it stick to the bottom of the cup and not cause suction. I left all the inner straws in the old ones so I threw away all the new ones. Now my son is happy.
