This was an affordable alternative to the branded product with the same strength and design features. BUT, they slide. I put two touring bikes on a trailer for a thousand miles and had to stop and tighten the fasteners half a dozen times because the straps kept coming loose. I've done this many times with an old kit and know how to strap 900 lb bikes securely. Possibly because they were brand new, the nylon straps might have been too slippery to be glued on (they were threaded properly and had enough wrap to be grabbed and held) or they stretched. In any case, this is not what you need in the future. It's not about the ratchet. these held tight and worked as expected. Perhaps texturing the smooth slot and take-up spool could make a difference. It's hard to believe these straps can stretch with fangs. I will no longer use these.
