Review on 🐢 Handsfree Control: Dogtra 1900S Waterproof Remote Dog Training E-Collar by Nate Caldwell

Good machine but ergonomics needs improvement

Overall I'm satisfied but for a product several years old the team and Dogtra need to improve something. I bought this version to study and made some changes to get the system working. Collar - A hard collar is not suitable for every active dog. It has to be tight to get good contact, but there's no flexibility here. I immediately replaced it with a redline bungee version and my GSD is much happier. The transmitter is a good size and the belt clip is very sturdy. I immediately took the strap off as it was unusable and kept floating. Leveling was my biggest problem and I switched between Dogtra and Garmin. I'm still not sure I made the right decision as moving the dial over the button option happens accidentally. The drum buttons are just as good, and the battery life is very good. Stimulating Device - On my GSD, the standard pins didn't make good contact and I didn't want to use the longer versions as they raise the device higher and cause more discomfort. I used comfort pads and the improved connection was immediately visible. Note Bart Ballon's chameleon collar, which has this type of wings built into it. So far the battery life has been good. The hands-free button is really useful, but the design leaves something to be desired. If you don't have thumbs instead of fingers, this button won't fit your finger exactly. This probably has something to do with the battery used, but Dogtra is supposed to make it more ergonomic. Again, the factory strap was useless to my fingers and I replaced it with a velcro strap and it doesn't fit snug and tight. Before using ecolar, study the problem. They are teaching tools, not punishment.
