The fan is not working properly now. Most likely because of the wiring in the wall. (The previous fan didn't work and made a strange noise when the switch was turned on. I replaced it thinking it was the fan.) So I can't rate the fan performance yet. It looks good installed. I'm guessing you don't see the brackets on the fan, you see the trim nuts. It's a nice touch. However, it was the most annoying setup I've ever experienced. The instructions were crap. A few examples: For a normal ground pole installation you will be prompted to proceed to step 13 after that. So step 12 is about installing the blades. If I skip to 13 when do I get the blades done? By the way, installing the blades after step 13 may be a bit tricky if you don't have an offset screwdriver. Oh those fabric washers. Unbelievable. Maybe there's an easier way to work with them, but the only way I could figure out is to hold each one while I turn the screw. That's right, hold a hard little washer while you turn the bolt in. I could not press the washer onto the propeller shaft. no Another example: ground wire. There are two of them in the box. One on the ceiling mount, the other from the lamp. Nowhere in the instructions is it specified what to do with the bases. Do you connect both to the ceiling ground? And if so, where? The lower link installation photos show the lower link ball as if it were outside of the cap. You install the bottom bar in the dome and mount the cap and think while the cross pin is still inside as indicated. what you can't And this picture, which gives the impression that the ball of the lower bar is on the outside of the dome, is just wrong. There is no general fan diagram. You know that beginning drawing that labels each piece so you have an idea of what they mean in the steps? In at least one of the drawings, there is an arrow pointing to a random L-shaped lever that detaches from the bracket, but there is no information on the meaning of this lever. I finished the installation and I'm still amazed at this graphic. It's like a fucking attachment. It's just there. No reason. Or is there? As a technical editor, I tend to take instructions lightly. It's unforgivable. I agree that someone who does this on a regular basis might not have any problems. You may not even need instructions. But for someone who installs a new light fixture including ceiling fans every 6 months, for example, the instructions were maddening. Perfect shit. Certainly I will not buy Westinghouse again for anything that requires installation. These instructions should be thrown away and rewritten from scratch. Once the wall wiring is complete I'll be back to update my review to address the fan itself.
