I only buy a new wallet every few years and have gotten choosier over time. This time, I had a mental list of cranes in the sky that my ideal wallet would have to have, and while I fully expected to have to give up half of them, I'm glad this wallet has almost all of them. There are eight of them. Slits, two zipped pockets (in case the photo isn't clear, the second runs the full length of the wallet alongside the wallet), two bill compartments, two ID card slots and a shocking SIX patch pockets, although one of these should hold a removable ID. (Four are inside, one is outside and one is on the badge insert itself.) It's amazing. Admittedly, these features compete for the same amount of space in practice, so if you stuff every card holder AND carry a lot of cash AND change the zipper piece, it gets pretty thick. In my case, I couldn't fit more than one ticket stub in the outer slip pocket. But anyway, I've filled out most of it, and so far it seems to be going well. But I also really wanted to have a zip pocket as most men's wallets can't carry small change. I've seen other wallets with a zipped compartment, but usually you have to choose between this and two bill compartments. This one has both. And the smaller zip pocket even has a clever little security flap to prevent a bullet from scratching your cards. I'm also used to having a retractable badge holder. It's very useful to be able to pull out a smaller version of your wallet in case you want to go swimming etc. Most wallets these days have a fold out ID card slot but if you have a removable one it's difficult to return it. .The big disadvantage is that the wallet is not protected against RFID. To be honest, I wouldn't worry about it unless every other wallet seems to be promoting this feature. Of course, the extra protection is a good thing, but for me the benefits of the layout outweighed the chance of someone shining in my pocket. The plastic on the badge holder isn't as transparent as some; Your card will likely be legible enough for a bank teller, but backers like the Transportation Security Administration or a law enforcement officer may request that you remove the card anyway. However, there is enough space in the ID pocket so that the driver's license can be easily taken out and taken out. I can't say the build quality is necessarily better than other wallets, but it looks decent enough, especially considering the price. The leather smells like real leather and in fact the texture is smoother and less weathered in real life than in the picture. However, most of my previous wallets had to be replaced because the stitching was failing, not because the leather was cracked. I can't say if that will be the case here, but we'll see. If they made it in more colors, with a bit of stuff when fully charged, and with RFID blocking...then it really would be a flawless wallet. But as it is, I'm very happy with it. FYI, it doesn't come in any box. So if you are buying it as a gift, be aware of that. I was not paid or otherwise compensated to write this review.
