My MacBook Pro has been slowing down which is to be expected for a 12 year old computer. I was thinking about throwing it away and getting a new MacBook Air Besides its speed, I thought of other issues with the computer (e.g. the battery won't hold a charge, the charger is in place, the tops of some pads are missing and the trackpad has stopped working) I started researching the cost Replacing/upgrading these items. It turns out that most of these issues will cost less than $100 to fix. In addition to the RAM upgrade ($37), I also have an 85W charger ($22 dollars) and a spare battery ($33) purchased through Revain. I can live with a missing pair of buttons (but still work), and I use a Bluetooth mouse instead of a trackpad. As far as RAM, I was first aunt how fast the computer ran after installing the new modules. RAM modules took less than 5 minutes. I Insta filled two 4GB RAM modules, doubling the original amount of RAM. Applications now launch at lightning speed. So glad I tried it first instead of paying $1000 (minimum) for a new MacBook. It really does feel like a new computer. If you are unsure about upgrading your RAM, I highly recommend doing so. Minimal cost, easy installation, and tremendous value in computing performance. The charger seems to be of good quality, time will tell if it will hold up, but the problem with the positional charging connector has been solved. The replacement battery is coming this week.
