I only bought it for a trip to London. I needed an inexpensive adapter to charge all my stuff including my phone, power bank, watch and wireless headphones. This adapter worked great. It came in a very nice little zip bag which made packing easier. It's basically a 3x3 cube or something, so it fits in the corner of any of your luggage. I bought this particular one because it had 4 USB ports and a regular outlet and it was very convenient to plug in my devices before bed and I didn't have to get up and turn them off in the middle of the night. I think you could, but an adapter plus a USB hub, but why carry two things when you only need one? It's definitely for electronics and gadgets - I wouldn't plug a hair dryer or anything into it. But for a work trip abroad when you need to charge your electronics and get them ready, it worked perfectly.
