It looks okay at first glance. Then I opened the package. The plastic blade guard fell off, exposing the long piece of metal that the blade sweeps past. The piece of metal then fell off. It was stuck, just buy a double-sided tape. I put it back together and tried to cut a piece of paper. It cut off part of the paper and folded the rest to the side. This is a very cheap paper cutter. Only worth about $5 if that. However, it was the cheapest I could find and I believe it will cut thicker paper a little easier. And I bought this to cut film negatives while I develop them. Foil is a lot sturdier than paper so I'm confident it will cut a straight line for that. But at least I don't recommend this product. The lid of the storage compartment is also very thin. When I opened it it felt like the hinge would crack and it was very unstable. I'm still debating whether to keep it, just hate paying that much for something that will surely break within a few uses. it felt like the hinge was cracking and it was very unstable.
