Not the warmest given their transparency. I wasn't expecting much from a base layer, but they're pretty comfortable under pants or alone, but they're very transparent on the seat and thighs (some gym-goers could see the full tattoo on my legs). Originally bought to wear under shorts that were too short for the gym. As I mentioned before they are transparent so they are not too warm but they help when it is cold outside or the gym is air conditioned. If there are ladies considering this, you need something to wear over that, especially when you're working out, but if you're only getting leggings to walk around, you might want to steer clear of brightly colored knickers.
