Terrible smell the first 2-3 days after unpacking!

I like this wool ironing mat now but when it first came out it had a very strong horrible smell which faded over time. Once that was gone, the carpet turned out great. I used to use a small IKEA open mesh desktop ironing board and it worked forever. This rug over an ironing board is a great combination. I haven't used the cutting mat yet.
