I chose the Super Badger version over the better Badger EJ brush simply because it was only $30 more expensive and it was handmade. Although I can only compare it to the very cheap Van der Hagen boar brush that I also own, I can say that I have no regrets buying it. It holds more water and lathers much faster than a boar brush and feels much better on the face. It's also just beautiful to look at on the counter. One of the reasons I chose this brand of brushes is my satisfaction with the EJ DE89 razor that I use with their sandalwood shaving cream. I have no doubt that there are equally good brushes out there at similar prices, but figuring out each manufacturer's badger hair classification level must be too complicated. EJ seemed pretty straight forward and described the results on his website. The only reason it didn't get a 5 star rating is because this review was written by someone who has never used brushes other than VdH. But I may add that I aspire to nothing other than a shaving brush.
