I bought this microphone to record music at home. I needed a decent entry-level mic that I was comfortable with, with great sound. Having used it all day since unboxing it, I am very happy with the quality. First, the mic was packaged nicely and had plenty of foam to protect all parts. Assembly was easy, although the instructions are not very clear. The base is nice and heavy, everything is well screwed. The only thing that bothered me was that the pop screen seemed a bit cheap so I would handle it very carefully to avoid breaking it. After connecting to my mid 2012 Macbook Air, it worked flawlessly and sounded fantastic! **Edit: This is perfect for beginners recording a raw room. There's a slight distortion in the high frequencies if you get too loud or too close. That being said, it's sensitive enough to produce great sound when positioned correctly, but not sensitive enough to pick up every faint noise in your home - which you'll want if you're recording in an unprocessed room. I think it's great for beginners. Much luck!
