First, let's talk about the elephant in the room: HDR. Unless it's full array dimming, HDR is "complete crap". So pay 5x more for a true HDR monitor. But an HDR certification means your monitor has more brightness and color space than others without it, which is what we got here. Great colors. Excellent black and contrast values and a really good SVA panel. The picture quality is excellent for the price. If you're a fan of contrasts like me, VA is for you. It took some calibration but you can do it. Extreme clipping will cause clipping like any other monitor, so stick with normal mode and a little ghosting. And if you want to see what extreme overdrive looks like, use Extreme Overdrive + HDR and install an FPS game. What the hell were they thinking? It shouldn't even be an option. For gaming, the stock settings with normal overdrive look good. HDR is a handy color enhancement feature in some HDR games. As bright as the Caribbean summer sun, this pup will really have your corneas begging for mercy. The Good: The 1500R is great for gaming, but it may take a while to get used to (I came with the 4000R). 144Hz + 8-bit looks cool in competitive games if you don't use HDR and overdrive. 1440p really improves performance, and even more so with picture-in-picture when using multiple inputs (requires Acer software installed). The power indicator is well hidden and non-invasive. The stand has a very good build quality, all metal, the clip in the monitor is also all metal with decorative details and plastic covers that continue the rest of the monitor's design. Excellent viewing angles. The Bad: Could have used a little more decorative detail. It's a great build quality, but it feels cheap in the small details. Speaker? A "feature" that shouldn't exist. The buttons are really hard to press. The memory preset works in a strange way. Two preset custom buttons are nice, but adding more options for them would be great. Ugly: The apparent lack of ergonomics. I recommend a VESA stand with more flexibility (especially for height adjustment). The bezels are a bit 2010s too. There's no line, but at least it has an entrance cover so the wall behind doesn't feel too bad. Outstanding: 1440p + 120Hz + 10-bit color depth, well calibrated, has virtually no ringing with slight ghosting, making this monitor ideal for gaming and multimedia (color depth and gradation are truly amazing). Install Acer driver and unlock additional features. Download the desktop app to get all this babe has to offer. The monitor has the ability (if drivers are installed) to extrapolate 4k with amazing detail even in small text, but at a frequency of 60Hz. With DSR you can even get 4kx2k for 4320p. Compatible with G-Sync over DP. If you notice flickering, I was able to fix this issue by disabling the second screen (4k HDR LG TV al 120Hz 1080p via HDMI 1.4).
