The future is in your pocket

Let's face it: it's expensive, I bought the 512GB version (for 8GB RAM); Despite all this expense, I wish Samsung would just let us choose what to do with the Bixbi button right away, instead of having to download BxActions to remap it. Samsung already has our money and it seems greedy to steer customers straight into Samsung's revenue stream. Still, none of it is insurmountable, just slightly annoying. I've tried many of Samsung's software features and to be honest, I like it more than I don't like it. Launcher: I really miss Google Feed from my Pixel XL and it's hard to break the habit of swiping left to access it; I've just remapped (using BxActions) my Bixbi key to the Google feed, but I'm using a Samsung launcher with a nice dark theme. The app drawer, Samsung calendar, and home screens are all very nice and smooth. Edge Apps: I just discovered today that you can use the Edge Launcher app to have an easily accessible home set of apps without having to unload the home screen. from any application you are currently in to launch another application. Gallery: The editing features built into the Gallery app are top notch and pretty easy to use. S Pen: That's why you're buying the Note, and this version of the S Pen is even better; Screen Off-Memo and the accompanying Samsung Notes app are so natural and intuitive to use; Take out the S-Pen when the screen is off and start writing, everything will be saved automatically. Splendid! Keyboard: I didn't like the G-Board any better, but with a little tweaking to my liking, the Samsung keyboard is phenomenal; I find it far wiser to suggest general words that Gboard has a handy floating keyboard to play with, and when you pull out the S Pen it switches to a very handy handwriting interface. I started using it to take notes that can be quickly and accurately transcribed to text in any application. The camera is fast and competent, with many features. If you spend a lot of time adjusting camera settings, this will keep you busy for a while. Finally, there is Dex mode. , which I think is almost as good as a desktop computer. Google Docs and Office 365 are present, accounted for and work well, the Chrome browser switches to tabbed browsing in Dex mode, and multitasking is adequate but not perfect. You can even play games with mouse and keyboard! Of course it's not PERFECT, you still use mobile apps some of which refuse to work well on desktop but for the most part they work well and do 90% of what I need in my use cases. home desktop for. I haven't tried the serial IDE or video editing with Dex, but the apps are ready to use. All these wonderful things are housed in a beautiful metal and glass body with a battery that lasts all day. , a gorgeous 6.5-inch 1440p display with the deepest blacks and brightest, most vivid colors, plus stereo speakers that pack performance into such a small package. Samsung really went all out with the hardware on this device and I'm looking forward to making it my primary computing platform.
