I don't know if another similar product would be better but I got a lot of hum when using it so I had to buy a ground loop noise isolator (thanks customer what mine question because I didn't know it existed), but it works fine now. I like the coiled cord so I can bring the device closer to me if needed. The first cable I used was annoyingly long but didn't hum, and both this and the other 18-inch cable I tried hummed, so I don't think it's a cable-specific issue. I still hear an uncomfortably loud click. it plays through the speakers when I connect it to my iPod for the first time. whatever it is I'm happy!
