When I ordered the TH530 Stud Finder, I didn't have high expectations. But I was surprised when I tried it. It was far more accurate than other spike finders I've had. This includes my favorite magnetic spike finder. On several occasions he found bolts and beams that I couldn't find with the magnetic viewfinder. Even better, this spike finder accurately marks the center of the spike. This has saved me in several situations where the magnetic nail finder only gave me the edge of the pen. This nail finder helped me tremendously with my 25ft garage shelving project as I was able to completely rely on it for locating my anchor points. I would recommend buying this spike finder especially for beginners. It's very useful and saves you time and mess
