A piece broke off inside - a new one.
Something was rumbling in one of the controllers. I had nothing to lose so I opened it up and found that one of the vibrating discs was floating under the electrical box. Obviously something happened during production because they don't show up on their own. It connects well because it wasn't a problem, but I didn't have to open up a brand new controller and find a loose part that just floats in there and can break bits on the electronic circuit board. I will never buy this brand again even though they are very nice.
