Review on Kaytee Clear 🐾 Water Bottle for Pets by Dave Brummet

Cannot drain water easily

Spring loaded ball mechanism can be a problem. I ordered several of these and none of them leaked, however two of them did not allow air to enter the metal tube easily, making it difficult for the animal to give water. They were for rats and guinea pigs. The rats quickly gnawed a hole out of frustration, but the guinea pigs were luckier as they tend to slam the water bottles hanging in their pens. This unlocked the ball mechanism. Understanding the problem with the nozzle, I took a thin, unsharpened pencil and pressed the ball into the spring, squeezing it a little. I replaced the bottle my rats had been chewing on and the water came out with ease. I repeated this for other bottles. There was less clattering of bottles and water was drunk faster. Three stars because this solution could easily be placed on the packaging. The company simply explains the mechanism and how great it is to have a spring loaded ball bearing that solves dripping hose problems. It's not a ball bearing, it's a neat seal on the bottle neck that prevents dripping. Your engineers need a lesson in physics and how animals access water. When buying, pay special attention to whether the bubbles come out in a transparent bottle when drinking; Bubbles should be there. If the bubbles don't rise, the animal is dehydrated. Check the pressure on the ball to see if it's too tight. The price of the bottles is the same as all bottles otherwise I would have given this product less stars. I think animal products are overpriced.
