I was looking for a quicker and more efficient mounting system for my two-seat Teryx (about 1500 pounds) than using straps. In my search, I came across a Kolpin worker dog. He had great reviews. I did some research and even checked the Kolpin website to confirm I can use this on a UTV. Here's a copy and paste from their website * Faster and stronger than straps alone * Secures your ATV or UTV to your trailer for safe transport * Prevents forward, backward, and side-to-side movement WRONG! I installed this on my truck bed as instructed and added extra reinforcement under the truck bed and added chocks for the front wheels. The idea is to park with the front wheels under chocks and lock the rear wheels with Trailer Dog / Lock It Right, done. , no straps. However, the bottom plate and wheel chocks stayed in place with no issues. The rest of the story: Here's what happened on the very first Trailer Dog/Lock It Right ride. We drove about 150 miles away to our destination. After the first 100 miles on the freeway, I decided it would be a good idea to stop and check out the UTV. Looking at the front of the device, I noticed that it had moved back a few inches. When I got to the back, I saw that this hitch (which was secured with a padlock) had come loose from the ball on the UTV and the square that holds the washer and nut that attaches the locking mechanism to the hitch was lying on the deck of the trailer, but there was no spring. My guess is that the nut wasn't tight enough from the factory and just came loose. I couldn't fix the clutch because the spring was missing. Needless to say, I was buckled up again for the rest of the trip. I am very mechanical by nature (more so than the average person) and am very meticulous about installing, fixing, etc. I would like to say that there is nothing I could do better or differently when installing or locking a device that would prevent this This. I don't know what remedy I will take, but most likely I will try to force Kolpin to replace the connecting part of the device or just repair it. .If I decide to try again I will most likely use the straps as a precaution until I'm happy with the fact that it works. I will update this review if I try to use Trailer Dog again.
