I bought this for living room use and am very happy with how quiet the humidifier is. The unit is about 5 feet from the living room and I can't hear it at all when I'm watching TV. It is very easy to use and the remote control is very convenient as you no longer have to bend down to turn it on or change functions. The display is also great as it shows the room temperature and the % humidity in the room. I use tap water as the lines are very clean here and will update my review if necessary after washing them for the first time. One thing that isn't clear in the instructions that came with the humidifier is the difference between the Warm Mist and Anion settings. The first setting is warm mist and the second setting is anion. The instructions state that the second press of the button starts the "anion/plasma function" and the "plasma generator" works. What this is all about is not explained in detail. I suspect it is due to the higher fog temperature. Either that, or it creates plasma that can rupture the space-time continuum. Either way, it's a possible win/win. All in all, this is a great humidifier for a small home. (1100 sq. ft.) supplement. I used it for a couple of weeks, stopped using it for a couple of weeks as it got hot, then went to have it cleaned and found a lot of dirt on the thing that wouldn't come off after using it for two days soaked in vinegar. I'm waiting for the response from the service departments. Addendum to addendum: Service people never replied to me so I sent the product back for a free replacement. On reflection, this is a great moisturizer if you don't. Remember that it needs to be cleaned every week. The cleaning instructions are very vague. For comparison, I bought a similar humidifier from Homedics. His instructions were twice as informative as Hupro's, specifically on how to clean it and how NOT to clean it. IE, do not touch the sensor with your finger. The oils on your hands can damage it. No mention of THIS from Hupro. I will update in a few weeks.
