Review on Moto Z4 - Verizon 128GB Flash Gray - Renewed by Jake Atonyo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great phone, but "Renewed " is a mixed bag.

The product description says "Refurbished" that the usual accessories can be replaced - however I expected it to be a similar replacement. Instead I have a Samsung branded 5V 2A charger and USB A to C cable which does not provide enough power to charge TurboPower(tm) while the original that came with the new phone -Motorola charger has a fairly high amperage. to support TurboPower. This means the phone will only charge at older, slower USB 2.0 speeds using the included charger. Luckily I'm replacing an old Moto that broke recently and can use my old chargers instead which are rated and charged at 30A. my phone in less than an hour. But if I was upgrading from Apple to Android, for example, or a much older micro-USB phone, I'd be disappointed to find my "upgraded" phone charging so slowly with the accessories that came with it. The phone itself is in good condition but it has not been cleaned properly - There are traces of dirt in the stitching of the case and on the earcup grille which I expected would be properly addressed prior to resale. Neither problem is insurmountable, and the price per purchase of a 'refurbished' model is much lower than a brand new one, so I call it a flush - I hope the Z4 serves me well over the next two years! As for the Z4 itself, I'm upgrading from the Z2 Play and the difference in performance is amazing. The new OLED screen is great, colors are vibrant and it's nice to have Android Pie while my Z and Z2 are still stuck on Oreo. I intentionally skipped playback on the Z3 by flicking the power button and removing the headphone jack - Moto wisely corrected both mistakes, and they're back in the new Z4. Fingerprint scanner under the screen. Well, there's no jury yet. Strange but seems to work fine. Maybe not as reliable and accurate as a physical reader on Z or Z2.
