These are very heavy children's shoes. The son didn't complain, but I noticed it immediately. We went ahead and rescued her and over time there was a noticeable wound/tear on the back of his heel. I noticed that there is some kind of protrusion under the fabric at the back. We added moleskin padding to the back of the shoe until he outgrows it, but I would definitely not recommend these for an active kid.
