This RAM brought my mother's 8 year old computer back to life. I built this inexpensive system in 2010. This is an AM3 system with an Athlon II X2 processor. The original operating system was Windows 7. Initially, I installed 4GB of RAM on it. Like all Windows PCs, they get bloated and slow down over time. Then along came the botched Windows 10 update, and Windows and software's reliance on RAM has increased exponentially over time. I think one of the biggest hits were some of the patches Microsoft released in January 2018 (the Specter patch?) that slowed things down the most. In short, 4GB of RAM was not enough and the computer turned into a pig. Let's jump forward. Using the task manager, I figured I would have to do two updates. RAM is the first and easiest upgrade. Revain delivered within hours of my order! And luckily I was visiting my mother when he came. After 15 minutes, I unplugged her computer, opened the case and inserted the two DIMMs into the motherboard. Closed. Reconnected the cables. started. BOOM! The computer was upgraded from 4GB RAM to 12GB RAM. I went into some of the programs and websites she visited and everything worked like clockwork: a huge improvement! It's like a new computer. Can't wait to see what she thinks of the next update when I do. Edit: I've seen some people complain about this not working on their AMD systems. My only comments: (1) Check the motherboard manufacturer (2). If you mix 2 different types of RAM chips, manually set the RAM time and speed (via BIOS) to the lower RAM set. (3) The motherboard I installed this on has an AMD 785G chipset and an AMD SB710 Southbridge.
