Firstly, the unit I received had the hard drive built into the monitor so that saved some steps but the instruction manual is not complete applies to the initial setup of this configuration. Setting up the system involves many steps, and without familiarity with your network and a working knowledge of IP addresses, it can be confusing. You may need to hire a techie to help you. More detailed instructions would be a plus, which is why I'm only giving it 4 runs. It looks like you need a wired LAN connection to set up the system, but once set up, a LAN connection is no longer required. So far everything has worked great.
