Review on 🎨 Effortless Cleanliness with Melissa & Doug Drawing Compact by Van Masterson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Attention: Not for preschool children! Buy a cheap pack of printer paper and let the art continue!

Against my better judgment I followed Melissa and Doug's recommendation that this is a great pillow for 3, 4 and 5 year olds. Boy they were wrong, wrong, wrong. Preschoolers bring their whole bodies into the drawing - they lean, lean and actually become one with the paper and the tabletop. Also, most of them hold a crayon or marker in their fist, which means they paint with broad strokes and wiggle motions. They just aren't ready to develop or draw in tight spaces. In addition, these pages are not very durable: an energetic artist will simply tear through them. I suspect the thinking behind this design is in response to parents' dissatisfaction with how quickly small coloring pages can go by. Paper. But I don't think the answer to that question is to reduce waste by making little pads that keep kids out. Instead, buy some cheap printer paper bags, dispense two or three sheets at a time, and then flip them over for extra color before dispensing more. And then, of course, recycle (appease a reluctant recycler by photographing an artwork that doesn't meet fridge door standards). However, these pads are perfect for 4th through 6th graders, especially teenage girls. tiny drawing stage. Small, intricate illustrations fit well on these pages, and the artist will be pleased to know that the work is neatly placed and not lost in the white sea!
