After assembling the parts, the entire stand was slightly warped, but it took some effort to straighten it out. The top bracket that attaches to the door was too wide for a standard door. When the door closed, the door jamming pushed the jamb away from the door. To fix this I used a hacksaw to cut off the bracket. There is a hole in the bracket to screw the jamb to the top of the door, but a few parts of the command bar will work as well. Similarly, I used two small command hooks at the base of the stand to keep it from swinging left and right (see photo).
