It works (sort of) but each individual piece doesn't slide smoothly or independently of the pieces on either side of it when trying to fit it to the surface contours. And since the pieces tend to stick, I had to manually push each individual piece from the back so they actually lined up along the front and followed the contours of the surface I was using them on. locking mechanism. It works to hold the pieces in place and prevent them from losing their shape, but I've noticed that it also compresses the pieces slightly, causing the overall shape they capture to be a little narrower than the actual object I was trying to track. I used this on the door frame, lined up the contours and then used the locking mechanism to hold the shape. As a result, the pieces at the outer ends of the door frame upholstery began to bend slightly from being pressed together. The tool lock puts pressure on the left and right sides, making the tool slightly narrower than the shape being traced. This means if I were to carve a shape based on the tool, it wouldn't fit like it should. I know this because I can't just slide the tool back around the door frame unless I disengage the locking mechanism. I'm not sure I can rely on this model for accurate form tracking.
