Not consistent and not accurate.
The thermometer I received does not always or accurately read the temperature. Compared to another similar thermometer, it usually differed by 2.5 degrees in the range of 97-95.5. The other thermometer read 98.0 and 97.9 degrees on 6 tests - all 6 temperatures were measured on both thermometers at the same spot on my forehead. Figuring out how to take the temperature and read the result was very easy. Even if it were accurate I wouldn't use it with a sleeping baby as there is no way to disable the beeps.
