The card works really well when installed properly. I installed with Windows 7 but I suspect it will work fine with Windows 10.1. The instructions that come with the card are pretty bad.2. Installation complexity mainly depends on your BIOS and motherboard type.3. Motherboards without UEFI BIOS should be easiest as the map will show up at boot time. Motherboards with UEFI BIOS are the most difficult to set up. Because the card's BIOS doesn't show up at boot. Install Windows 7 with UEFI BIOS: 1. Install the card and boot Windows, you may see BIOS for 620L card.2. After Windows starts, go to Device Manager and find the new device in the Other Devices group.3. If you don't see this other device (no driver is installed at this point), remove the card and put it in a different PCIE slot. The first slot I tried didn't work.4. If you've tried every PCIE slot and don't see an uninstalled device in Device Manager, you have a problem.5. You can try going into the motherboard BIOS and figure out how to get the UEFI motherboard to allow Windows to see the card. I can't help there.6. After the device shows up in Device Manager, you still need to install the driver for the 620L card. My card didn't come with a CD, so I had to go to the HighPoint website and download the driver.7. There are two downloads available for Windows, one is the actual driver and the other is another utility that you don't need to install. The drivers are in a zip archive, the other utility is an exe file. You only need the ZIP file with the drivers.8. Extract the drivers from the ZIP file. Then in Device Manager select "Update Drivers" and navigate to the directory where you extracted the drivers. Performance seems good, I can't tell the native SATA motherboard ports from the 620L card. Good luck, hope this helps :-P
