This product is pretty neat! As mentioned by other reviewers, the material itself is a piece of dark plastic with some pieces of foam and double sided tape around the edges. You don't have to use that tape - I just stuck it in the armrest and the pressure just held it in. In terms of storage space, this is for small and light items. As long as you don't plan on putting anything of significant weight in it's perfect for things like postcards, paper, mail, watchdog backup SD card, iPhone adapters, etc. Note that it's a small compartment when installed. Don't put something too big under the armrest in the small organizer that comes with the car because it would crash into the compartment door, but I think it's a great compromise. One improvement I would like to see is a way to prevent the door from sliding all the way down - the current design allows the door to slide all the way. For <$20, however, that's a minor complaint.
