Problem solved with radio module

I have a site with several highly sensitive receivers in a wide frequency range. Because this location is in a large market, microwave link frequencies are expensive. Spring and fall suffer from microwave channels, and it's not uncommon for a distant transmitter to overcome a local surge. 60 GHz is the ideal answer since oxygen absorption limits propagation at this frequency. First, I replaced the Ubiquiti Gigabyte Switching Power Injector on the line going up the tower with a Mikrotik injector. HOORAY! When the Mikrotik injector was installed, my ethernet speed reading went from 100MB to 1Gbps. Looks like Ubiquiti has a problem with the injectors (model GP-240-050G). I even replaced the 10m barrel from CAT7 with CAT8. I mounted the plates and immediately saw the lock indicator. There are LEDs that tell you how to adjust the cymbal vertically or horizontally. That didn't work for me. I did some digging and found that someone else had reported something similar. I read on and it turned out that this could be one of the models with a beamforming antenna. I've read that sometimes it's better to visually point the antennas at each other and then restart. That worked great for me. Data transfer speed has increased and latency has decreased.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
