My cats are by no means small (the vet says they're just "big-boned" but I keep them on a diet anyway). The main thing is that they are big. I mention this because another review of this item says it's better for kittens or smaller cats. I don't doubt the other reviewer - I'm sure some cats wouldn't like to scratch it because it doesn't have a large flat surface - it's just that my cats love it. his own. I swear he lay in it for twelve straight hours once. It scratches a little and then curls up in it - perfect fit. I vacuumed and it didn't move. Better than any cat bed I've ever made for him. The *only* problem with this scratching post is the same problem all corrugated cardboard scratching posts have: they leave pieces of cardboard everywhere. But vacuuming is no problem, that doesn't bother me.
