Air filter defective

My air filter did the same as in the picture and the white plastic goes through the slots. I only noticed this because of the noise the vacuum cleaner started making (something was wrong). I wouldn't recommend them as I would imagine that having something so powerful block the airflow would damage the vacuum's motor and render it unusable. not worth the money at all!
