Fits perfectly in our 2014 Subaru Forester with the back seat down, but we can see how even the XL might be a bit small for a larger SUV or van. It's a perfect solution for us and our 120-pound Akita. For a smaller dog where you could leave the back seat up the regular size might work.We keep it in all the time with no issues, but it's very easily removed.Update 11-24-15.While it is still a wonderful product, we have noticed that the backing is starting to deteriorate and leaves our backseat full of small black "dots" we need to vacuum regularly. We are dropping our rating to 4 stars because of this. We think this might be because the Arizona heat in our garage is causing an issue (the car is very rarely outside) but regardless this is a downside to the product.Update 12-7-15Back to 5 stars! 4Knines is the best company I've ever dealt with. Period. End of story.They immediately sent a replacement free, and we've purchased another for our other car (an Outback). We don't know if the new ones will have the same issue of the backing leaving little black dots in the car, but we can't believe how great these folks are to deal with.
