For this book, please make a notepad first. Some of the fabric sizes appear to be wrong.

A small online file sharing site I'm part of has decided to replace the 12.5 inch units. I have the Autumn Star, page 9. This block, although made up of 41 pieces, had to be fairly simple since it used squares and an HST rectangle. I found that the CEF block was 1/4 inch throughout after checking, rechecking, and rechecking that my measurements and seam allowances weren't wrong. What is wrong are the dimensions printed in the book. Finally I fixed it by adding 1/2" to each piece's dimensions. Corrected CI to 3" for the 12.5" block, EI has been corrected to 3 x 5 inches and F has been corrected to 3 inches. After sewing, they need to be cut. I suggest reducing to 4 3/4" or 4 5/8" until you can see how it fits in the block. Another tip is to do 4 CEFs and 4 Mirror CEFs at the same time and use the first one of each. as a trimming guide, and then compare it with a mirror to make sure you're trimming it just right. Big disappointment considering the price of the book. I also turned to the dark side after not liking the book's clutter. open seams. Opening the seams didn't seem to make much of a difference since the block was 1/8-1/4" smaller (shorter). At the same time, use the first of each as a trimming guide, and then compare with a mirror to make sure you're trimming it just right. Big disappointment considering the cost of the book. I also turned to the dark side after disliking the mess of open seams. Seam stretch didn't seem to matter much since the block was 1/8-1/4" smaller (shorter). At the same time, use the first of each as a trimming guide, then compare with a mirror to make sure you cut it just to fit. A big disappointment given the price of the book.
