Big torque but SUPER SLOW.
Stepper motor and gearbox combinations have plenty of torque for your CNC application, but at this 27:1 ratio are extremely slow as they reach the maximum speed of the stepper motor. Depending on the type of drive, only approx. 10 mm/s can be achieved. Attempting to go faster will cause the engine to stall. Instead, I get 5:1, which gives me enough torque to feed the spindle while still being able to move quickly when I need to.
