I bought two different brands of insulated waterproof/water-resistant pants. I inspected both pairs for general build quality, material, and potential for actual usability. These pants lost at all of those. The pockets are thin/cheap, the fly zipper is cheap, and the fly button is sewn on with a conservative amount of very thin thread. The material seemed okay at first. They seem like they'd be pretty usable. But, compared to the other pants with large cargo pockets, I felt like these slightly smaller pockets and their angle of the opening were the lesser of the two. But, they seem like they'd do fine on their own, they stretched when I crouched, and they were comfortable. Then, I decided to do a water repellency test. I laid them flat on a counter top and poured a small puddle of water on them, about 3in in diameter. They looked like they'd do great, but then I lightly rubbed on that in a circular motion with my finger. After sitting for 5min, the inside of that part of the pant leg was completely wet and so was the other side of the inner liner of that leg. I poured a little more water on the same spot out of curiosity and it immediately soaked into the pant leg. I am returning them.
