This is a WiFi adapter with built-in Intel WiFi 6 AX200 chip. The chip itself costs around 20 US dollars from Intel and, with Bluetooth 5.0, is one of the latest WLAN standards (after Wi-Fi 6E). Intel is responsible for how well this device works and provides drivers for it. This Cudy device contains an AX200 chip with a PCIE slot adapter, a chip cooling cover, antennas and an antenna stand. (about $30 at the time of review) This device can be configured in two ways. You can connect the antennas to the back of your computer (or some other location that faces your PCIE slots), or you can attach the antennas to a movable stand to get a better signal. If you feel like you don't need a stand, you can buy this model from Cudy without a stand for about $5-10 less. My first impression was that I didn't use the antenna stand and placed the antennas on the back. my desktop The setup was basically easy! In addition to connecting the wireless card to the PCIE slot, you must connect the card to the motherboard USB 9-pin connector if you want to use the card's Bluetooth capabilities. The build quality of the PCIE slot and the cover surrounding the card is excellent. The only thing that bothered me was that one of the antennas dangled a bit (moved up and down; luckily not in the connector part). So far the performance has been pretty good! The Wi-Fi speed is pretty fast, peaking at around 866.7Mbps, and I can say it's significantly faster than the USB WiFi dongle I've used before (which comes in at around 50 Mbit / s ran). The wireless range for this device seems to be good. My desktop is about 15 feet from the router in a separate walled room. I only tested Bluetooth with wireless headphones. Even without the stand, the Bluetooth quality is pretty good and stays within 15-20 feet. All in all a very good offer! Since it's an Intel chip and it's one of the most up-to-date WiFi standards, I expect this card to last a while. I don't think a stand is essential, but if you need to position your antennas to improve Wi-Fi reception, or if you are using Bluetooth devices with sensitive input latency like game controllers, this model will cost $5 to buy with a stand -dollars extra. $10.Update: I've been using this for a few days and wanted to add some info on gaming performance. I was playing Battlefield 4 on a high tickrate (60Hz) server using this Wi-Fi adapter. Performance was pretty good and matched the gaming experience I experienced on a wired connection. I had no problems with dropouts; this applies to gaming and normal WiFi usage. Update (4/26/21): After using it for a month, I noticed this strange issue where the Wi-Fi card sometimes turns off after the computer has hibernated or restarted. It won't show up in your device manager and you'll have to turn off your device for a few seconds before you can use it again. And when I say power off, I mean turning off the battery or unplugging the power cord for a few seconds, since the motherboard needs to be powered off completely to recognize the PCIe device again. a common problem with Intel Wireless PCIe cards, so I don't think the device is inherently faulty. I'm still looking for a solution to this issue, but for now the best solution seems to be to simply shut down the desktop when not in use and perform the troubleshooting above if the device accidentally hibernates/reboots becomes. This isn't the biggest issue for me as my OS boots up fairly quickly, but it's worth noting for anyone considering the card. Deducted 1 star due to the AX200's habit of completely shutting down after hibernation or a quick reboot. Again, this isn't a flaw in the Cady's design; After some research, this seems to be a common problem with Intel AX200 devices in general that is not easy to fix. This is a tolerable problem unless you hibernate or restart your computer. If you give the motherboard some time to fully shut down by giving it at least a few minutes or by turning off the power, Windows will recognize the AX200 on startup. But it's still a bit annoying. Important Notes: Make sure your motherboard has an extra 9-pin USB connector to use Bluetooth. Know it's an Intel AX200 with a PCIE slot and accessories to give you reliability Manufacturer's first product - check the update (04/26/21) for more information on how to shut down the device after hibernation/reboot.
