Review on Revolutionizing Cooking: Tenergy Solis Digital Meat Thermometer – App Controlled & Wireless Convenience by Thomas Mertz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works perfectly. 2 wishes for the application. (updated 9 months ago)

UPDATE: Have been using it for 9 months now and use it on the smoker 2-3 times a month on average and a random number of times in the kitchen stove. Very happy with this purchase. The device works just as well as the first time. Regular sensor checks show that they are still stable and accurate. However, would have liked to see the software/graphics application add-ons below, but was generally satisfied. ---- Original Review ---- Caveat: I've only used this twice. The first was simply to check the accuracy of the probes, and the second was to smoke a brisket for 16 hours. Accuracy: Two methods tested: ice water and boiling water. All probes were consistent and provided accurate readings. Cook: He had a big chest and a new smoker. I used 2 probes with bones and 4 others in different places on the chest. Again, the sensors read accurately and the battery life hasn't changed at 16 hours. Application: Intuitive and easy to set up. If you don't like the pretty good presets, you can create your own. I ended up creating my own just to remove the "low temp" range from the preset I was using. Again it wasn't bad. but until the preset is reached, the alarm will sound every 10 minutes. No negative comment as warnings are usually helpful. Communication: I had no connection problems. With an older Ipad, I kept a constant connection about 30 feet away and through two walls. 2x Wishes: Both with graphics pages in the app - Time: I wish we could control the time shown on the long cook. Whatever the case, I was only able to look back about an hour into the history on the chart to see what had changed and how it had changed. It is necessary? Not quite, but it would allow me to be a bit more predictable for future chefs. - Charts: I want to display multiple sensors in a chart. since you have to scroll through the chart pages to view individual sensor readings. Again. It is necessary? Not exactly, but it would be nice to see differences, either in the location of the grill or where the dish is being cooked. In general. Good buy at a great price.
