I used this LED emergency light to replace the nickel cadmium emergency light on my basement stairs. NiCad batteries last about 2 years and this LED emergency light costs about the same as NiCd batteries. It makes no sense to switch to LED. It's easy to install as I already had 120v wiring to the control box. The light is very bright blue-white and illuminates the entire stairwell. This flashlight comes with batteries. Due to the nature of the packaging, the light cover snaps onto the base. You will need 2 small flat head screwdrivers or similar to loosen these plastic latches. You will break the clips if you just try to take it apart and then you have to glue the cover to the base. So take your time and post clips.
