Review on Enclosure Ikuai Tool Free Aluminum RTL9210B by Shawn Reiter

Matching option for this optional NVMe SSD

I recently got my third PCIe NVMe SSD. I only have two slots on my main PC, so using the third one is very convenient. Unfortunately, two of my PCs only have USB 3.1.1 (rather than 3.1.2) ports, so my testing doesn't fully include what this adapter claims to offer. But the pros and cons: • Assembly without tools. Open it, insert the circuit board and close the cover. • Holes at one end and sides for passive airflow. (It got a little warm during the test. Not hot though.) Also avoid liquids! • Durable but relatively short (11") USB-A to USB-C and 9" USB-C to USB-C. cable included. • Blue LED that lights up when connected and blinks when accessed. • Suitable for M and B+M boards. (But not only B.) • Robust metal housing. • No cover on USB-C port. • Claimed 18 month warranty. In short, it's much faster than any other external USB drive I have. Of course, this is much slower than internal NVMe slots, 1/4 speed, so you're "wasting" speed. And the internal SATA SSD is even faster. (I look forward to testing it on USB 3.1.2.) But for using a $26 NVMe or SATA portable SSD, it's a useful way to go. 5 Stars.

Pros
  • RTL9210B Chip M.2 NVMe SSD Adapter
Cons
  • So far so good
