We have a chihuahua (nine pounds) and another chihuahua terrier mix (14 pounds). In this booster seat you can sit comfortably together and look out the window while driving. We just tie them to the car seat with small ribbons when we drive long distances. They never fell out. We are very happy with this dog car seat and how easy it is to keep the dog safe while driving. We take our dogs almost everywhere and use them almost every day. It is always installed on the back seat of one of our vehicles. This is our THIRD car we have bought; We wore out the first one and then decided we needed one for every car! (The foam part breaks down after about five years, also one of our previous (older) dogs had a bad accident and the smell didn't come out of the foam very well.) FYI, we've washed the cover a few times successfully but as the poop from the foam was absorbed, it was time to get more!
