I've never done lighting or electrical work and was able to figure it out for the most part myself. It definitely helps if you have another person to give you the tools and help stabilize the situation. Most people have reported having problems with mounting screws being too short, but that wasn't a problem for us even in our 70's house. The instructions were a little less descriptive than I would like but we got it right even though we didn't use some of the parts that came with the product as we couldn't figure out what they were for. The only thought that really tripped us up was threading and screwing each of the eight "arms" into the main body of the sphere. Two hands were not taken, as if undressed. I wrapped black tape around the threaded part on my arm and after a few tries they fitted just right. The main thing is to tighten the small screw with an Allen key so that it is tight. Otherwise we are happy with it! Looks great in our office. I would definitely recommend a dimmer as even with 8 25w Edison LED bulbs the light is very bright! A few scratches on the outside but we have a black finish so I assume it will be easy to fix with a black marker. It looks good overall, but it's one of those "you get what you pay for" offerings.
